Solidarity Across and Beyond the Walls Zine

This zine is the result of a collaborative project between Community Justice Exchange (CJE) and 9971, an abolitionist study group for imprisoned people in SCI-Dallas Pennsylvania. In the spring of 2025, CJE sent copies of James Kilgore’s A Luta Continua: Lessons in Global Solidarity zines inside prison to the men in the 9971 study group. When the zines arrived, 9971 held discussions and wrote reflections. A few of the members of 9971 then decided to go further and create their own zine on solidarity. Their goal was for the zine to be accessible and relatable to imprisoned people. They wanted to spark discussion about solidarity and what it looks like behind and across the walls. CJE was then eager to collaborate with 9971 on sharing their zine with other imprisoned people and more broadly.

Solidarity Across and Beyond the Walls was written by N.B., Dimiar Baker, and Hascir Walton and illustrated by Muhammad Ali, all of whom are members of 9971, with support from Stevie Wilson, who was then incarcerated at SCI-Dallas (he has since been released). It was designed by Danbee Kim and translated by Tilde Language Cooperative.
